What is False Celling?

Any ceiling that is suspended below the original ceiling usually to conceal an ugly, or too high ceiling or to install flourescents with translucent panels to give the effect of the entire ceiling being lit up. lots of reasons and methods but basically is just a 2nd ceiling concealing the original.


False Ceilings Are Made Of

Gypsum board: Lightweight, flexible and fire resistant, gypsum is most commonly used for false ceiling. It is tough, versatile and economical and is fast replacing other ceiling materials.
Metal ceiling panels: they are ideal for concealing ducts and wiring since they can be easily installed and maintained. They reduce overall cost since they are easy to install and access. They have a monolithic look, which gives the space a very modern look and blend with glass.
Fiber mineral reinforced materials: false ceiling can be made with fiber or mineral reinforced tiles and fiberboard. They have high insulation against sound and fire. The fiber increases the hardness and the toughness of the material. Water repellents and preservatives can be added to increase the life of the products.
POP (Plaster Of Paris) is also frequently used in the construction of a suspended ceiling. First it is applied to a wood base or fiberboard, and then it is perched from the false ceiling. It is popular as it is lightweight and results in a smooth and uniform finish.
Plywood sheets are used universally for their visual appeal. These ceilings are created with stripes of ply nailed or glued together. Because of their qualities, these ceilings are popular in a place in a cold climate.

Uses of False Ceiling?

False ceiling is used to conceal the air condition and electrical appliances and the faults in plastering. It has an unavoidable aesthetic function. False ceiling increases the interior beauty of the room. Earlier only the walls and floors of a room were given prominence in the interior decoration. Now as the trend of highlighting the designs of the upper part of the room is in cove lighting and indirect lighting. False ceiling is also necessary for making arrangements for the lighting accessories, for lighting given at two or three levels and for uplighting. False ceiling decreases the heat of the room. It will reduce the volume of the room. This will reduce the usage of  AC and thus helping in saving the power For increasing the acoustics of the home theatre room, false ceiling is used. The ceiling panels of false ceiling can be easily removed. It helps in the repairing and maintenance of air conditioning, plumbing and wiring accessories by providing quick access to them.
